Little Luna Candles are based in Whistler, BC. They have created, just for us, these exclusive signatures aromas, accented with the most colorful healing stones placed ever lovingly in soy wax.
So why soy wax?
Not everyone knows the difference between all the waxes out there! Most store bought candles are made from paraffin wax. Paraffin wax is made from the sludge left over from petroleum refining where as soy wax is made from soy beans grown from the earth 🌎 Soy wax is also much more biodegradable where as paraffin is long lasting and durable. If found in a landfill it could stay there for your lifetime and maybe more. Because paraffin has been around a lot longer than soy there is a lot of controversy regarding which wax is better. Most of the claims saying that paraffin and soy are equal are made from companies who are making big big dollars from paraffin candles 💰💰they have been at it a long time and course the introduction to soy wax has taken away some of their business. Politics hey?
Paraffin is a by-product of the oil refinery, meaning the refineries have to find some use for that waxy sludge left behind once all the liquid petrochemicals have been extracted.
Soy wax is made from soybeans that are grown from the earth. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is extracted then hydrogenated. BOOM, we have soy wax. Of course the process is a bit more complicated but doesn’t it sound better than the process above?
